Chris’s interaction with the Great Lakes shapes much of his work, and the tiles in particular express the subtle clarity of light, shadow, and color over freshwater, the shifting transitions of the coastline, and the endless interplay of granite and sand. Through the constant and lasting medium of fired clay, Chris evokes the movement, balance, and flux of these natural spaces.
